Transferring Audio from Tape to CD Using Goldwave and iTunes


Tool List:
  1. Good quality tape deck with line out or headphone jack.
  2. Audio patch cable to go from tape deck to computer.
  3. Windows PC with sound card and CD burner.
  4. Goldwave audio editing software downloadable from www.goldwave.com.
  5. iTunes audio software downloadable from www.apple.com/itunes.


How To:
  1. Turn on the tape deck and computer and load the cassette into the player.
  2. Connect the patch cable between the tape player and the computer sound card "line-in" port.
  3. Start the Goldwave software, set the recording levels (you may need to experiment).
  4. Create a new file that is at least as long in time as the audio tape.
  5. Click record in the software and press play on the tape deck.
  6. When the recording is complete: 
  7. Open iTunes and drag the audio file or files you just recorded, into the main window. It is now in your music collection.
  8. Create a new playlist. (File>New Playlist).
  9. Name the playlist what you would like the CD to be called.
  10. Add the audio file you have recorded, to the playlist (drag and drop always works).
  11. Click "Burn Disk".
  12. Voila! You have created an audio CD.
