Transferring Audio from Tape to CD Using Goldwave and iTunes
Tool List:
- Good quality tape deck with line out or headphone jack.
- Audio patch cable to go from tape deck to computer.
- Windows PC with sound card and CD burner.
- Goldwave audio editing software downloadable from www.goldwave.com.
- iTunes audio software downloadable from www.apple.com/itunes.
How To:
- Turn on the tape deck and computer and load the cassette into the player.
- Connect the patch cable between the tape player and the computer sound card "line-in" port.
- Start the Goldwave software, set the recording levels (you may need to experiment).
- Create a new file that is at least as long in time as the audio tape.
- Click record in the software and press play on the tape deck.
- When the recording is complete:
- Maximize the audio.
- Select each section that you want to save as an individual CD track and select "save selection as".
- Save your files in .wav format for maximum quality.
- Open iTunes and drag the audio file or files you just recorded, into the main window. It is now in your music collection.
- Create a new playlist. (File>New Playlist).
- Name the playlist what you would like the CD to be called.
- Add the audio file you have recorded, to the playlist (drag and drop always works).
- Click "Burn Disk".
- Voila! You have created an audio CD.
